Day 59- Good Bye Apartment

We said Good Bye to our apartment today.  Feels good to officially have 1 place to live!  Today was another hot one.  What happened to the good old days where we actually had a Spring?  Lumber Liquidators finally located our reducer/threshold for our laminate floor.  So we took a nice air conditioned drive to Robinson to pick it up.  Because no trip to Robinson would be complete without it, we also went to Ikea!  We found nightstands that would work (ours were too big for the space) and some more curtains.  Unfortunately, Ikea was out of some of the curtains we want (and not available to purchase online) so looks like we will be making another run out there at some point.

Day 58- Boy is it Hot!

A lot got done today despite the heat.  Michael was kind enough to steam clean the carpets at our apartment and Dad helped Andrew with the Kitchen and other little projects around the house.  Bridget watered the plants and herself to stay cool!

We're hoping our spider plant likes our house as much as it liked our apartment!

Michael steam cleaning the apartment.

Looks so pretty!  Thanks Michael!

We had the cleaner for 4 hours but he got it done in just over an hour.

He had to be a little creative getting the carpet in the closet.

Ceiling fan back together.

The Office is coming together.

Desk in place.  Now we can start unpacking that room!

Futon set up.

All the Kitchen cabinets are up now.  We just need a little counter top and we are good to go!

The top drawer needs a little fixing but it's in place.  We will put shelves above it since we didn't have a small enough top cabinet.  The Kitchen is finally able to be unpacked!  It will be like a real house!

Day 57- A Clean Apartment

We did better than yesterday.  We went to the apartment and emptied it out (and by we- Andrew, Michael and Bridget's Dad).  We also gave everything a good cleaning.  All that's left to do over there is steam clean the carpets (per our lease).  We didn't do anything at the house, but that's what tomorrow is for!

We were good tenants and used Command Strips rather than nails on our walls.  I think nails would have done far less damage.  For the record we did follow all of the instructions but the strip still damaged the wall (Don't worry Bridget sent a complaint to Command).  Hopefully with a little glue and some putty no one will ever notice ;-).

Day 56

No pictures today.  Bridget did some unpacking.  Andrew attempted to finish setting up the TV in the Living Room, but didn't quite make it.  Looks like we will need some longer wires since the room is rather large.  Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive.

Day 55- Happy Memorial Day!

Andrew's parents came down from Erie to give us a hand at the house.  We picked out fabric for curtains in the Baby's Room, then got to work.  The Kitchen cabinets were cleaned.  The remaining tack strips were pulled up on the 3rd Floor.

Andrew mowed the lawn again.  It looked like it was going to rain most of the day, he was able to get everything cut.

Our new bushes survived the mow.

Nice clean cabinets.

No more tack strips.

All we will have to do is clean and paint the floor.

Not a great picture, but the strips are gone here too.

Day 54 - Lots of Stuff

Today everything seemed much more complicated that we had planned.  We thought we would get a ton done, but nothing was easy.  We went to the apartment and picked up the rest of the food from the fridge.  Then Dad came down to help Andrew with the plumbing in the 1st Floor Bathroom.  That project was hard because someone was creative with installation of the sink.  The Hardware Store in Bellevue was able to help them make sense of the mess and everything was hooked back up.

The cabinet fits, but the upper cabinet proved to be more difficult because we may have metal studs (we can't get the screws in the wall).  Dad found some drywall anchors that will hopefully work for holding the cabinets up.

The dishwasher works, but there is a small leak so we will have to replace a gasket and a missing screw.

Dining Room- We had 2 base cabinets and fit perfectly into the space.  All we need is a counter and Andrew will have his bar.

Yay!  We now have 3 fully functional Bathrooms.

Back in place.

The tub was rather dirty.

Not great.  Hopefully Mr. Clean and his Magic Eraser can help us out!

2nd coat on the bookshelf.

We have a rose!

We decided to put 5 of our Rose of Sharon bushes in the front yard to hid our neighbor's mess.  Hopefully they grow 6 feet high quickly!

Andrew decided to pull the bush out of the garden.  Would only "take a second."

It's home now that our Keurig is set up.

He's still at it.

Looking for treasure?

Man vs Wild...I think the Wild maybe winning.

Nope he finally got it!

Day 53- Day Off

Today we went and visited Andrew's Grandma and took her to lunch.  We also went to the Pittsburgh Power game this evening.  Our seats were apparently in the Steelers section!  It was nice just taking a break from all the work!

When we were watering our new plants we found a baby birdie all alone.  His mom showed up with some food and moved him somewhere save.

The guy in the pink shirt is #55 for the Steelers and we're not sure who the guy in the sweater is.

They beat Cleveland!

Day 52- Fridge and Outdoor Fun!

Andrew had the day off work making this a 4 day weekend for him!  So we put him to work.  Since the rain finally stopped we started on the Rose of Sharon bushes.  If only the sun was shining a little bit more today it would have been perfect!

The fridge arrived this morning.  The truck was too big to fit on our parking pad.

They took the doors off to fit through the door into the house.

1st bush in place.

Andrew digging a hole.

Holding area for bushes we can't place yet.

5 bushes have to wait.

Because Andrew and Dad had to pull out the Lilac bushes we ended up moving our 1st bush into the holding area for safety reasons.

It put up quite the fight.

Working on the 2nd bush wasn't as big so it was easier to get out.

It had quite the root system on it.

Andrew thought it was a see-saw.  The bush lifted him off the ground.

Yay it works!

We are lining the side of the house with the Rose of Sharon to create more privacy in our Backyard.

Eventually we will pull up all the grass around it and make an actual flower bed.

Now that the Lilacs are out we can place the Rose of Sharon.  We also want to make a flower bed back here.

We picked up some food from the apartment.
